Mise-en-scene video feedback and learner response

 1. WWW: Original use of post production, use of sound, facial expressions, good performance, costume appropriate and villain/killer identity hidden.

     EBI: No 100 word summary, No shot list, Camera angles, different music, follow the brief. 

2. WWW: Good acting, good use of costume and props.

     EBI: Black and white, needs to be a recreation. 

3. It was more of a last minute video with last minute video if I am being honest so I don't think it helped as much which is what caused my video to be all over the place. 

4. I should stick to the original as best as I can and follow the task steps so that I could do better. 

5. It's important as it helps to analyse every little detail so that when i have to produce something i should try and include everything the original video has. It's the little things that interest the person who's watching and so everything counts into consideration. It also breaks down the video into smaller things that you wouldn't think of while watching.

750 word analysis

 The birds (1963):    In the beginning there was match on action as you see the car from one angle and then you see it again but from a different angle. The singing of the children is diegetic sound as it's actually happening in the film sequence. There's a tracking shot and a POV shot.   The cut between the shots of the woman and the birds creates suspense as every time the camera switches back to the birds, the number of  birds increase and by the end of the video sequence there is a massive increase in the amount of birds seen. This is unexpected. There's a sound bridge  of the children singing in the background as you can't see them singing but it is still going on. Every time the camera switches to the woman it gets closer and so this is an extreme close up . This is dramatic irony as we know that there are birds behind her that increase over time however she is oblivious to the birds behind her until she notices one in the air flying around. preliminary exercise

1) Choose at least three TV dramas similar to your concept and watch at least one scene from each. Make bullet-point notes on everything you watch, commenting on camerawork, editing, sound and mise-en-scene. 1)   Top boy - clip stef and ZT get back on mails:   the mise en scene of the nice cars (from the money they made through drugs). T he empty petrol station suggesting that it is late at night so no pedestrians will see to help them. The costuming of the tracksuits and the bally (face masks) being used as it is an typical UK road man/gangster costuming which builds the British culture feeling. The props of guns being used and pulled out builds up tension as the audience as on edge waiting to see if someone will get injured. The mid shots during the fit to show multiple people fighting then the close up when they are speaking to show the facial expression clearly build up more intensity furthermore the tense non dietetic sound builds up more intensity.
